Continuing Professional Development

Our courses are developed and delivered in collaboration with experts in their field. Find out more about how to support and deliver CPD, including how to propose a topic for consideration, on our website.

The BPS’ approach to CPD is not based on points. Instead, we promote a reflective, outcomes-based approach to CPD, in line with HCPC’s Standards of continuing professional development.

Yes. If you attend a webinar or workshop, you will receive an attendance certificate. If you complete an online course, you will receive a completion certificate. This is available for you to download for your records.

Yes, some of our courses will support you in your application to join our BPS registers and/or directories. This includes:
• Supervision skills, for the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors
• Essential knowledge for the Expert witness, for the Register of Expert Witnesses
• Media production psychology, for the Directory of Media Production Psychologists
Find out more about BPS registers and directories, and check your eligibility.

As the BPS is not the regulator for psychologists, we do not specify how much CPD should be undertaken. Rather, please refer to the Health and Care Professions council (HCPC, the regulator of Psychology) Standards of continuing professional development. You could also refer to the society’s practice guidelines, particularly the section on CPD.

My CPD is an additional platform accessible using your BPS log in credentials to plan, record and reflect on your development. Login to My CPD.

If you are attending a webinar or online workshop, Zoom details will be sent to you automatically from noreply@bps.org.uk 24 hours before the session is due to commence.

Please allow 10 working days after the live webinar date for the recording to become available.

Your course access will vary depending on the course you are enrolled onto. However, you will be able to find your access period within the course details on BPS Learn. Typically, you have 12 weeks access from the delivery date of webinars/online workshops, 8 weeks access to on-demand webinars and 6 months access for online courses. You will receive a reminder email when your access period is coming to an end - usually 2 weeks beforehand.

Unless there are extenuating circumstances, unfortunately we are not able to extend your course access. If you need to get in contact with the team to discuss any extenuating circumstances, please contact cpd@bps.org.uk.
